Thanks I really enjoyed reading through these songs. My wife and I play old time southern music here in the deep deep south in Sydney Australia. There were dozens of songs here that either perform or have heard on 78 rpm records, Lps ot CD’s. A real pleasure and thanks for putting that material on the web.
my dad is 92 and knows many of the ole time ballads by heart. he played with web pierce. we live in louisiana but i have alway dreamed of living in Australia. are you native Australian or have you ever lived in the south?
An Ethnomusicalogial transcription of folk song lyrics from an original 1928 source scribed by Frances Jackson of Wingham, Ontario, Canada. Transcription done by her great grand daughter, a Master of Arts candidate at York University in Toronto - Jacklin Falconer. December 2008.
Thank you for sharing.
